On this day you will not only revise the Yang Family sabre form (youtube video) but also cover the rarely taught 2 person sabre form.To see some video of this fun and dynamic partner form from the 2009 course, click here. This weekend is the last opportunity to cover these forms in some depth before leaping into the 2 seminars with Master Sam Masich, one of the most skilled teachers of Tai Chi in Europe today.
The first of Sam's seminars (30th March - 1st April) will revise both of these forms and add even more depth and detail, and the second (22nd June - 24th June) will teach in full the older Yang style form that is described by Chen Yin Lin in one of the earliest published works on Tai Chi.
Why learn sabre?
If you have studied tai chi before, whether just the basic hand form or pushing hands, but haven't learnt weapons then there are a number of benefits you could be missing out on. Tai Chi is a dynamic art, and weapons training (sabre, straight sword or spear) gives you more strength, muscle tone and fitness, further develops footwork and improves general clarity and focus (all important aspects of relaxation). As your progress includes partner work in weapons this also takes your hand forms and pushing hands to new levels of skill and finesse.
